Liquor Sales Effort Fails

The Empire-Tribune reports efforts to get a liquor sales referendum on the November ballot have failed, but organizers pledge to try again. The group Citizens for Responsible Beverage Laws, the folks behind the measure to legalize the sale of liquor in Erath County, say they’re not finished after failing to get the required 4,400 signatures from registered voters to get the referendum on the ballot. The deadline was Friday, but Court Cole, the owner of Bull Nettle who helped spearhead the effort, says he and other advocates of the measure are launching a second attempt.
