Mexico Tariffs and Texas Economy

The Texas Tribune reports a looming trade war and Texas’ proximity to Mexico could spell trouble for the Lone Star State’s economy. Analysts warn that how the U.S. trades with Mexico could do far greater damage to state and national economies than President Donald Trump’s current trade squabbles with China or Canada. Trump announced he would begin imposing 5% tariffs on products imported from Mexico on June 10th if they don’t curb the flow of immigrants passing through Mexico on their way to the U.S., and he may increase it to as high as 25 percent.
