The Tarleton State University Police Department offers a Rape Aggression Defense– women’s self-defense course beginning next Monday. The free, 12-hour, four session course is open to female students, faculty, staff and the general public, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 11, 13, 18 and 20. RAD instructors focus on education and awareness, prevention, risk reduction and the avoidance of assault and rape. The RAD system is dedicated to teaching defensive concepts using easy, effective and proven self-defense and martial arts tactics. Sgts. Kristie Bint and Amanda Miller, both of the Tarleton University Police Department, will be the instructors for the course. Participants will meet in the foyer of the Wisdom Gym.
