The Stephenville Independent School District board of trustees heard an updated report on bullying this week. With the passage of Senate Bill 179, better known as David’s Law, a single, significant act might be sufficient to meet the definition of bullying. The SISD trustees discussed updates to the code of conduct, and approved it Monday night. David’s Law is named for David Molak, a 16-year-old Alamo Heights, Texas student who took his own life after being cyberbullied. SISD Executive Director of Human Resources & Student Services Kathy Haynes said the updates came from the Texas Education Code. Besides bullying and cyberbullying, “Breach of Computer Security” was another addition to the code.
