The Dublin Council swore in new members and got down to the business of addressing old police cruisers this week. Police Chief Bobby Mendez spoke about the need for new patrol vehicles, saying the department doesn’t have a single vehicle with under 100,000 miles on the odometer, and several are in need of major repairs so costly as to rival the price of purchasing new patrol vehicles. After some discussion, the newly sworn-in council approved the lease of two Dodge Chargers from Government Capital. Mendez said it would take a few months for the cars to be outfitted. The council also approved the nomination of John Johnson as Mayor Pro-Tem.
