The first ever Stephenville ISD Special Olympics track meet is kicking off at 10 a.m. this Saturday at Lem Brock Field. Parents and community supporters are welcome to attend the meet and cheer on athletes from the stands. Sabrina Carter, a life skills teacher at Stephenville High School said they have 35 athletes signed up and over 100 volunteers. Students began training in December with volunteers from Tarleton State University, physical therapists and Stephenville High School coach Kristi Mayes. Between events the athletes will be able to play a variety of carnival-type games at the field.
