Two Erath County Sheriff’s deputies were recognized for saving a man’s life on Easter Sunday. Deputies David Southerland and Kent Howell responded to a dispatched call referencing a medical emergency, according to Erath County Sheriff Matt Coates. He said a vehicle was on the side of the road near the intersection of FM 914 and FM 847 with a 55-year-old man who was not breathing. The deputies arrived and performed CPR on the unresponsive man until Erath EMS arrived to take over. Officials said the unidentified patient was transported to Texas Health Stephenville and then transferred to a Fort Worth hospital by air. He remains in the intensive care unit.
